There is probably a really good reason why you’re not making the sales you think you should be; and it’s probably not the reason you think it is and it’s not necessarily that you don’t know how to sell. So let me ask you this: Have you actually taken the time to walk in your customers shoes? Have you ever followed in the footsteps of your ideal audience and tracked exactly where they start and where you, ideally, want them to end up?

Have you ever tried to buy from yourself?

Have you? Is it easy? Can you even do it?

This week I spoke with two of my amazing clients who are running a sh*t hot business and helping loads of small business owners with their offers. But the sales weren’t coming as thick and fast as they should be. So what was the problem?

  • They are clear about who they serve with their offer and what their offers are.
  • They have lots of products and services, some active, some semi-passive and some completely passive.
  • They were super visible on social media.
  • They had an active and engaged email list.
  • They are using Pinterest to drive traffic to their blogs, services and passive income products.

So what was the problem?

It was really hard to buy from them, and not because they didn’t know how to sell!

That’s right. They’d unknowingly made it really really difficult for their customers to actually click ‘buy’! And they even confessed that in attempt to buy one of their products, customers got stuck in a loop of page after page on their website that didn’t actually take them anywhere!

Doh.

Create An Easy Path To Buy

Knowing how to sell is just one way of making sales. Creating an easy path to buy is something, as business owners, that we often forget. We spend so much time creating our lovely products and services, trawling social media, creating new content, digging for PR and doing all the other things we think are important.

And then we get lost in the tech. We set up a sales page, and maybe integrate some payment methods and press ‘publish’ and then sit with our fingers crossed hoping for the kerching of a sale coming through.

We over complicate the process. We offer too many choices, resulting in analysis paralysis and worst of all, we ‘think’ there’s another issue that explains why people aren’t buying from us.

Getting your customer journey right can mean the difference between a massively successful, profitable and abundant business versus hearing crickets when you check your bank account or moths flying out of your wallet… ick…

And it isn’t difficult to do.

Map Your Customer Journey

To ensure your customers go from seeing you in the online world to actually buying from you, you need to make sure the process is clear, simple and as direct as possible. You literally want to direct them from social media to website to mailing list to sale. In that order, and that quickly. You also want to direct from Pinterest to blog post to purchase, in that order and that quickly! Yes, it should be that straightforward and if it’s not, you may have a problem.

Mapping your business and plotting out your customer journey is just one of the many topics we cover over in the Passive Business Academy. This ensures that not only are you designing and creating products and services that are perfect for your business, but also ensuring that they sell; time after time after time. Ensuring that your business grows financially without you working your tush off.

Financial and time freedom is possible, and getting the sales process right for your customers is just one piece of the jigsaw that creates a scalable, salable and phenomenally profitable business for you and your family.
